Sigmon: Has no problem lying and distorting the truth

Sigmon is running against Congressman Patrick McHenry in the primary for Congress. He says he is doing it to bring maturity and ethics to Congress. Apparently, Sigmon has another motive. Since he is using the same treasurer as embittered Sheriff David Huffman (see http://mchenryrocks.blogspot.com/2008/03/this-video-is-hilarious.html) and getting help from the same folks in Catawba County that worked for Huffman back in 2004, I think it is safe to take a guess at Sigmon's real motive.

On Thursday, Sigmon sent out a message via e-mail. His original "press release" (though it is more fair to call it a RUMOR release) went out via e-mail. The subject line of the e-mail "release": "Patrick McHenry lies about Iraq trip, belittles American security personnel." Here is the portion Sigmon highlighted in the message:

McHenry refers to American military sentry as 'two-bit' at Lincoln GOP event, exaggerates story to include death

(body of e-mail message)In a moment eerily akin to a Hillary Clinton "misspeak," 10th District Rep. Patrick McHenry lied at the Lincoln County GOP Dinner attended by approximately 150 Republicans regarding events that occurred during his recent trip to Iraq. McHenry, who has no military experience, used the occasion to "belittle" security personnel for properly carrying out their duties in a war zone and to bolster his image by exaggerating the extent of danger he was facing. According to a US Embassy spokesman, no one lost their life during the attack McHenry describes.
Here is a screen shot of the release as it showed up in the e-mail message--notice the title:

The liberal blogosphere lit up with stories attacking conservative Congressman McHenry--a consistent supporter of our soldiers. A few conservative bloggers took the time to ferret out the truth.

Andrew Wilkow: The Wilkow Majority talked to Congressman McHenry on the air Friday afternoon to set the record straight and the Congressman put his comment in context. Though quickly conceding that it was a poor choice of words, Congressman McHenry said he was trying to explain his feeling at that moment of frustration and giving some background for the real point--that had he stayed at the gym he would have been there when it was hit by rocket fire. His real point was that God had protected him. He then went on in his speech to give honor and tribute to our brave men and women serving America in our armed forces. (listen to the Wilkow audio clip here: http://www.conservativepunk.com/articles/586/)

Now that some have set the record straight, Sigmon has changed the title on his website to remove the word "American" from the title.

Misrepresenting Congressman McHenry's comment about the guard is not the only lie in Sigmon's rumor release. Check out this link too:

Apparently Sigmon does NOT have the strong ethics he claims. He appears to be willing to do and say anything to smear our great Congressman. I wonder if Sigmon really even thinks he can win or if he is just trying to damage Congressman McHenry so he (Sigmon) can support the democrat in the fall. I understand that in a speech Sigmon gave in one county he said he would not support Congressman McHenry in the fall election even if McHenry wins in the primary. That is NOT how a true conservative Republican speaks OR acts.

SHAME ON SIGMON FOR LYING AND DISTORTING THE TRUTH. HE BRINGS SHAME TO THE UNIFORM HE WORE AND THE JUDGE'S BENCH ON WHICH HE SAT. THIS IS A DESPICABLE, COWARDLY ACT BY SIGMON.

Maybe it is time for Congressman Patrick McHenry to come up with a new ad:

Lance Sigmon:

Not Exactly What He Claims To Be

DIGG IT!
